For most book interiors, CMYK is the standard. For covers requiring precise brand colors or metallic effects, we often use CMYK + 1 or 2 Pantone spot colors. The most common premium configuration: CMYK cover art + Pantone metallic gold foil stamp on the title.
Pre-Press File Requirements
Getting files right before printing prevents 100% of pre-press errors. Submit your files with these specifications for a smooth, delay-free production:

Soy-Based Ink
Renewable soy oil replaces petroleum in ink formulation. Benefits: richer colors, near-zero VOC odor, better biodegradability, more efficient ink usage. Cost: +5–10% on full-color projects.
Recycled Paper
Post-consumer recycled (PCR) fiber content reduces virgin pulp demand. Available in various grades from uncoated text to coated cover stock. Natural speckled appearance adds character.
Water-Based & UV Coatings
Water-based aqueous coating (low VOC) and UV coating (zero VOC) replace traditional solvent-based varnishes. Same protection, cleaner production, healthier work environment.
